HISTORY & VISION
Angelo Caroli began his career at the end of the Seventies and vision
with a pioneering spirit that led him, still a teenager, to explore the expressive potential of clothing as a language of identity.
From his very first steps, from a small local radio station where he dispensed style advice, Angelo developed a prescient intuition: an attraction to garments arriving from America – jeans, t-shirts, Hawaiian shirts, military jackets – not as simple consumer goods, but as cultural artifacts to be selected and preserved.
In 1978 he opened his first space in Lugo di Ravenna
A small research laboratory spanning just 30 square meters where Made in USA clothing is meticulously selected, cleaned, and labeled, ready to meet an audience unfamiliar with the word vintage.
Characterized by a refined aesthetic taste and a critical eye, Angelo did not limit himself to selling: he began collecting garments and accessories from every era and origin, from the 19th century to the 1990s, including iconic fashion pieces, military, workwear, and sportswear.
This collection, born from an aesthetic attraction, is gradually transforming into an organic project for the recovery, protection and recycling of textile heritage.
June 6, 1992 marks a turning point: the Vintage Palace is born
a building that houses not only the boutique but also a historical archive conceived as a material library of fashion.
Here, items not for sale are available for style consultations, research, and projects by professionals, stylists, and scholars.
Over the years, the A.N.G.E.L.O. archive has become an international reference point for the fashion industry: stylists, companies, fashion editors, and universities draw on this collection for inspiration and study, consolidating the brand’s reputation as a cultural as well as commercial institution.
